FIR-PRI “Best Pedagogical Initiative” Prize

The FIR-PRI “Finance & Sustainable Development” Awards for 2024 were presented on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. A TSE team of research professors received the award for Best Pedagogical Initiative.

These European prizes were created in 2005 by the FIR to reward excellence in academic research in the field of finance and sustainable development. Each year, awards are given in five categories: Best Published Article, Best Master's Thesis, Best Doctoral Thesis, Best Pedagogical Innovation, and Research Grant for a doctoral thesis in progress.

This year, a team of TSE researchers including Catherine Casamatta, Ulrich Hege, Sophie Moinas, Sébastien Pouget, and Silvia Rossetto, received the FIR-PRI Finance & Développement durable award in the best educational initiative category for the case study “Corporate Tools for Climate Action: An Internal Carbon Price for Getlink?”

The idea for this case study was developed in the context of the Initiative for Effective Corporate Climate Action, a research initiative run at TSE with the support of Getlink to encourage effective corporate climate action.

The case deals with the introduction of an internal carbon price (ICP) at Getlink, a company in the mobility and transport sector. It introduces participants to ICP as an effective tool for implementing corporate climate action and communicating the company's commitment to sustainable policies with data-driven facts. An original aspect of the case is the quantitative evaluation exercise, which enables participants to measure the impact of a CIP on a company's financial and extra-financial performance, and to quantify the effects of carbon leakage at sectoral level.

The idea for this case study was developed in the context of the research Initiative for Effective Corporate Climate Action between Getlink and TSE.
