Objectives:
In this seminar - the first activity of the TSE Executive Education program this academic year - we intend to discuss some of the hottest topics in EU antitrust and merger control with a group of top-rate academics and practitioners: vertical mergers, rebates, regulating gatekeepers, etc.
Key benefits:
-
Listening from senior EU competition officials and members of the Community courts about recent developments on antitrust, merger control, and the ex-ante regulation of digital platforms
-
Participating in the debate between competition officials, academics, and practitioners about the existing ability-incentives-effects framework for the assessment of vertical mergers.
-
Listening and discussing about the current state of the case law on the use of retroactive and other loyalty inducing rebates by dominant companies and how that reflects recent findings in the economics literature.
-
Last but not least, Nobel Prize Laureate Jean Tirole will discuss his recent research on what constitutes fair gatekeeping in digital markets.
