Since 2007, the Banque de France and TSE have worked together to support and strengthen excellence in economic research in France and make key contributions to international economic debate and expertise. To do so, in 2012, the Banque de France and the Toulouse School of Economics launched a series of Prizes in Monetary Economics and Finance.

These prizes, granted every two years, distinguish junior and senior academic researchers who have developed central concepts to improve our understanding of monetary economics and finance. The aim of the prizes is to foster conceptual progress that will eventually allow the design and implementation of improved policies by central banks.

The Banque de France and the TSE awarded the Monetary Economics and Finance Prize for years 2022-2024 to six researchers at a ceremony held on Tuesday 18 June in Paris. The two institutions paid tribute to the scientists whose work helps to improve the conditions in which central banks operate.

For 2022:

  • The Senior Prize in Monetary Economics and Finance was awarded to Ricardo Caballero;
  • The Junior Finance Prize was awarded to Ulrike Malmendier;
  • The Junior Money and Macroeconomics Prize was awarded to Benjamin Moll.

For 2024:

  • The Senior Prize in Monetary Economics and Finance was awarded to Hélène Rey;
  • The Junior Finance Prize was awarded to David Sraer;
  • The Junior Prize for Money and Macroeconomics was awarded to Matteo Maggiori.
