Biography
Haneul is a Research Fellow at the IAST. She earned her PhD and completed her first postdoctoral appointment at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig before joining IAST. Her central research theme concerns understanding the socio-biological forces driving human cooperation, particularly from the perspective of motherhood. She draws on behavioral ecology, cultural evolution, and evolutionary anthropology, integrating methods and theory from across the biological and social sciences. Since 2015, she has been working closely with BaYaka foragers who live in the rainforests of the Republic of the Congo.
